Valiant Obedience

Their willingness to die for Jesus was not tempered by popular opinion. Their valiant obedience to God's holy and perfect will was never diminished by violent political opposition to Catholic Truth. Their trust in His unfailing mercy and their unconditional forgiveness of their persecutors continue to inspire a zeal for the Church which Jesus founded.
Through the enchantingly beautiful operatic masterpiece  ~Dialogues des Carmelites by Francis Poulenc~  we see how a young Carmelite's fear of death is miraculously eclipsed by her love and devotion to Our Blessed Lord. The martyrdom of these valiant and faithful women who gave their lives for their Heavenly Spouse is both inpiring and humbling.

Intercession and Hope

During times of crisis, the words of our prayers may not find their way into our mouths or hearts. Trusting in Our Lady's ceaseless intercession for us is a miraculous consolation. The words and melody of the beautiful hymn by Hermana Glenda called "Alguien Está Orando Por Mi~Someone Is Praying For Me" have a way of remaining within our hearts, filling us with hope.
Hermana Glenda was inspired to write these words and music
after a visit to a women's prison.

Feasts of Our Lady

During August, the month dedicated the Immaculate Heart of Mary, we have honored her Assumption (August 15) and  Queenship (August 22). As summer draws to a close, we celebrate her birth on September 8 and remember her sorrows on September 15. There are so many ways to thank her for her faithfulness and intercession, including prayer and song.
The Monastic Choir of Saint Peter's Abbey presents Feasts of Our Lady, a lovely collection of Gregorian Chants honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary. Sublime and sweet, this music fills our hearts with a melodious "picture" of her constant, tranquil and prayerful ways. It can be pruchased at Amazon.com

Humble Beginnings

From humble and potentially humiliating beginnings, God transformed a young girl from a broken home, into a monumental Catholic Televangelist. Mother Angelica's trust in the power of Jesus' love daily fueled and strengthened her spirit~ as certainly it still does today! Numerous obstacles were supernaturally overcome as she allowed herself to be God's obedient instrument. As a result, we have all been blessed by the prayers of an amazing religious order of contmplative nuns. Meanwhile Christ's message is gloriously shared worldwide through the Eternal Word Television Network. Mr. Raymond Arroyo's beautiful writing introduces the reader to Mother Angelica in a friendly and personal way as he shares with us the trials and triumphs of the mission Christ placed in her life.
This lovely biography can be purchsed here @ the EWTN Religious Catalogue.

Discarded

Several years ago, I came across a discarded book. Its crumbling cover and pages were worn. The binding was flimsy. As I gently turned the fragile pages, I was at once overcome with awe at the Christ filled beauty within, and shocked that this neglected treasure might have ended up in the trash!

I decided to learn more about the priest who so carefully compiled the prayers and meditations. Reading these pages opened a miraculous window in my life as a lay Catholic woman. I have since enjoyed many of his other books, which never fail to enhance my gratitude for our Catholic faith.
